
Wenny (Weiran) Chen is an award-winning product and furniture designer currently based in Shanghai.
Wenny was born and raised in Beijing. She attended Tsinghua University for BFA degree in industrial design. During which she designed various award-winning products that focused on human-centric factor -- INHEY, a set of medical devices for asthmatic children has won the James Dyson Award; The home appliance WAVE that she designed for Midea has won the 2016 Red Dot Design Award, Best of the Best.
In 2016, Wenny moved to NYC for her master degree in Industrial Design at Parsons School of Design, where her design interests have branched out from consumer electronic goods -- she has received recognition not only in the field of luxury furniture but also addressing social problems. The Cairn dining chair she designed for French luxury brand Roche Bobois has been put into production since 2019. In 2018, she gave a presentation on the topic of Access+ability with the showcase of her balance bike design in Cooper Hewitt Museum.
As her work has a wide variety from consumer electronic products to sophisticated architectural design, from one-off furniture design to mass-manufactured commercial goods -she believes design is powerful in a way that it could provide better experiences to all different fields with various scales.
